Advice

West Berkshire CAB is a generalist advice service. Using the CAB Service's unique information system we can give you free, confidential, impartial and independent advice and information on a wide range of subjects to help you solve your problems.

Benefits

CAB can identify benefits not being claimed

CAB can investigate and challenge benefit decisions or backdating

CAB can assist with completion of claim forms

Coming to CAB can lead to significant increase in income for some claimants

Debt

CAB can negotiate with Housing Associations with regard to rent arrears and avoid court action or eviction

CAB can help with budgeting, enabling clients to regain control of their finances

Coming to CAB for help with debt problems can reduce stress and anxiety and improve quality of life

Employment

CAB can negotiate compromise agreements

CAB can negotiate between employer and employee

CAB can represent and support during Employment disputes

Legal

CAB can represent clients in court with regard to bankruptcy, repossession, Administration Orders, Employment Tribunals, Benefit Tribunals

CAB can give information relating to court hearings, forms and procedures

Housing

CAB can help people who are threatened with homelessness

CAB can support during neighbour disputes

CAB can represent people who challenge housing decisions

Relationships / Family

CAB can offer support to those suffering from Domestic Violence

CAB can listen and give practical advice during the separation and divorce process

CAB can help with complex issues in times of bereavement

Other issues

Other issues include health, education, consumer issues, tax, utilities, immigration, etc.

In addition to our general service we can also offer:

1 A Carers Advice Service which can give specialist advice for carers and people with disabilities. Advisers have experience of complex benefit issues, including Disability Living Allowance, Attendance Allowance and Benefit Appeals. They can offer home visits if appropriate.
2 Services across West Berkshire which offer CAB advice sessions in several GP's surgeries in West Berkshire. Find a location nearest to you in the Find us page.
