Frequently Asked Questions

2 How can the CAB have influence and why should it?

The problems we help people with may highlight a failure in local or national services or policies.

Every year West Berkshire and all other CAB's submit evidence to Citizens Advice national headquarters, anonymously detailing clients' problems caused by bad or unfair laws, policies or practices. This unrivalled evidence is the basis of Citizens Advice social policy and campaigning work. West Berks CAB averages more than one submission for every two hundred clients seen and evidence reports from this bureau have contributed to major national CA reports on both debt and housing issues.

We also have influence at a local level, liasing with many local agencies in cases where we believe their actions are unjustly affecting the residents of West Berkshire.
